Spanish Bricor stores gradually disappearing

The Spanish home improvement chain Bricor is gradually disappearing from view.

The press release covering the 2019 financial year of parent group El Corte Inglés does not show Bricor sales as a separate item. In fact, only three large-format Bricor stores remain open following the closure of two stores in 2019. One of the stores still in existence is due to close this year. The group’s DIY division will basically continue as a DIY department in the department stores of the El Corte Inglés and Hipercor distribution channels. Almost 60 of these departments currently exist. The department store subsidiary of the retail group acquired the Bricor subsidiary last August.

The retail group’s operations as a whole brought in EUR 13.128 bn last year, equivalent to an increase in sales of 0.9 per cent.
