A drop in sales of 15 per cent has been reported by the Swedish Byggmax group for the first quarter of 2018. The reason given is the long winter and therefore also the late start of the season for outdoor projects. The sales channel Byggmax lost 12 per cent compared with the same quarter last year, the sales channel Skånska Byggvaror, which is aimed at the green living segment, 36 per cent.
The company points out that the first quarter, with a share in sales of normally around 14 per cent, is the weakest in the course of the year. Also, a late start to the season does not necessarily entail weak sales over the whole of year.
